Chapter 2
Subtopic 4
Choice 2
I personally feel that Albert Cruz reasons to forgo college are legitimate and well thought-out. I feel it is all about the position you’re in when you come out of high school. If you come out of high school with a job that offers opportunities to move up the rankings and a make a lot of money then you should totally go for it. If you don’t have that kind of job waiting for you then you should definitely give a college a chance because it offers a lot of opportunities. Another reason why I agree with his reasoning is because the same thing happened to my dad.  My dad decided to become a cop straight out of high school but tried to go to college at the same time. The workload was too much for him and he was forced drop out of college. Being a police officer offered many opportunities that he just couldn’t turn down. It ended up the right choice because he was able to move up the ranking and becoming one of the highest-ranking police officers in New York City. So If I were Albert Cruz friend I would tell to take the one that will give him the ability to have a bright future.

  1. I agree with what you had stated. If there is an opportunity waiting for someone they should definitely go for it but before they go for it the person should weigh out their options. It is better to know everything before a person makes a big decision about a enormous life changing decision in their life. A person should definitely keep in mind that there is always alternative ways to go about things. I admire the fact that your dad tried to do both, in having a job and trying to pursue a higher education, and also have the courage to know when he could not handle all the workload. On the other hand it was a different time period compare to what we will in today. It is more less likely for someone to be successful without an higher education on their belt. However, people should always take the route that will benefit and make them happy.
