making connections 2

Public speaking has always been a fear of mine and many others are in the same situation I was in. I always scared to go up and speak in front of people because of my speech impediment. From when I was born to about the age of two, I had no hearing. When I finally gained the ability to hear, the muscles in mouth developed incorrectly from not talking and I was left with a speech impediment. Unfortunately there are many people like me that have this same fear of public speaking and this is becoming all too common. What I have learned though that if you let this fear eat at you, it is going to affect other aspects of your life like talking to new people. I’ve learned that colleges like mine offer classes to help me get over my fear and that’s something that most people need to do because it really can affect your life. My greatest advice for someone that is in the same situation I was in, is to go out and join a class to help you get over your fear.

Mostly everyone feels overscheduled at one point or another, especially people in my generation, including myself. Its weird with me though, I find myself more overscheduled in high school then I do in college but I still do feel overscheduled. In high school for example every part of my day I had something going on. I would wake up in the morning, shower then going straight to school, after I would go home do my homework and study then head straight to the hockey rink for a 9 o’clock game or practice. I would feel so over overscheduled all the time until I finally realized that I had to dial it back a little and make time so I wasn’t so overwhelmed by the amount of work I had to do. I was getting grades so I decided to spend a little less time studying and a little more time relaxing. I was able to still get good grades but also felt a lot less overwhelmed. In college I have a lot of work but I also have a lot of time so it evens out. People who feel overscheduled have to decided if they have something in the schedule that they are willing to take out because it can make someone fell so much better.

Chapter 2
Subtopic 4
Choice 2
I personally feel that Albert Cruz reasons to forgo college are legitimate and well thought-out. I feel it is all about the position you’re in when you come out of high school. If you come out of high school with a job that offers opportunities to move up the rankings and a make a lot of money then you should totally go for it. If you don’t have that kind of job waiting for you then you should definitely give a college a chance because it offers a lot of opportunities. Another reason why I agree with his reasoning is because the same thing happened to my dad.  My dad decided to become a cop straight out of high school but tried to go to college at the same time. The workload was too much for him and he was forced drop out of college. Being a police officer offered many opportunities that he just couldn’t turn down. It ended up the right choice because he was able to move up the ranking and becoming one of the highest-ranking police officers in New York City. So If I were Albert Cruz friend I would tell to take the one that will give him the ability to have a bright future.
